Flavours restaurant awarded it’s 8th diamond award at diners club winelist awards for 2013

jacoFlavours Restaurant at the Devon Valley Hotel once again received a diamond award at the 2013 Diners Club winelist awards, their highest accolade, adding to a string of awards already palmed in by the renowned Hotel. The coveted Winelist Awards are highly regarded in the hospitality industry, and have played a critical role in raising standards in the industry since its inception in the 1980’s.

Under the leadership of Food and Beverage Manager Jaco Swanepoel they have created a wine list that takes the experience of selecting wines and spirits to a new dimension, a highly enlightening and descriptive read. Added to the experience is the Hotel’s very own wine library where customers can select their wines from a “liquid document” – a temperature controlled cellar.

“Mixing the familiar with the unfamiliar from small boutique wineries is the trick” says Jaco Swanepoel, “we do a lot of research to ensure that we are updated on all the new wines and wineries, and try to include a variety of wine regions”

The wine list includes wines from the Hotel’s very own SylvanVale vineyards, and places a strong focus on the wines from the breathtaking Devon Valley in which it is sited. Wines from all over the world are represented including a list of champagnes that are less familiar, however outstanding and affordable. The list further boasts a collection of over 60 unique single malt Scotch Whiskies, one of the most definitive selections in South Africa.
