The Devon Valley Hotel is surrounded by its own working SylvanVale Vineyards that produce handmade boutique style wines that are only available for sale to guests to the property. Grapes have been grown on the property since the 1960s. Today these are some of the flagship vineyards in the Devon Valley, and the south-east facing slopes with their rich red soils now produce superb Pinotage, Cabernet and Chenin Blanc cultivars. Viticulturist Lorna Hughes, who has been instrumental in the renaissance of the property, implements a programme of total quality management, resulting in intensely flavoured and ultra ripe fruit – the basis of SylvanVale’s big, bold wines.
Under the guidance of Executive Chef Markus Schwemberger gourmet food and SylvanVale wine pairings are available all year round either in Flavours Restaurant or on a smaller sample tasting scale of Flavours food canapés and a flight of three SylvanVale wines.
